What is a Needs Assessment?
A trained needs assessment counselor who will ask you a few questions in order to determine how to schedule your assessment handles your call. During the assessment, a mental health professional, in consultation with an on-call psychiatrist, determines what level of care is appropriate to your need, and coordinate your services.
Will my family be able to visit and participate in my treatment?
Yes, families and significant people can be identified and approved by your treatment team for visits and involvement in your treatment process.
Where could I stay if I’m from out of town and I have a family member at Prairie?
Ronald McDonald House Charities may be an option.
Will my insurance cover the costs of psychiatric or chemical dependency services?
Our Needs Assessment Team will discuss this with you and your family, gather the necessary insurance information and proceed to get pre-certification of coverage or the level of coverage your health insurance carries.
What kind of staff do you have providing treatment services?
The staff at Prairie St. John’s comprises a multi-disciplinary team of professionals who work together. We have Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, Board Certified Adult Psychiatrists, Ph.D. Psychologists, Licensed Master’s level Social Workers, Registered and Licensed nurses, Occupational Therapists, Licensed Addiction Counselors, Behavioral Health Techs and Masters level Counselors.
What is the difference between inpatient and outpatient services?
Inpatient services are provided to those individuals who meet “inpatient” criteria and will benefit from a structured, safe and supervised environment. Outpatient services are provided to those individuals who may be better served by remaining in their home environment and utilizing services through office visits. Partial Hospital Programs is another level of care that offers intensive day programming as a step-down from inpatient or a step-up from outpatient services.
